AUSPLAS Trade show Ausplas is
Australia's national expo for the plastics processing industry and trade
users of plastics products. This expo is held every three years, with
this year's expo at the South Melbourne Exhibition Centre on 7th October to
10th October 2008.
Ausplas presents the latest practical developments in processing
equipment, technology and applications from leading suppliers around the
world and within Australia.
On Wednesday, 8th October, 28 employees were transported by bus into the
Ausplas Trade show for some hands-on learning and development. We
arrived at the Expo at 4.30pm, electronically registered and then dispersed
into the crowds.
A number of large injection moulding machines were in operation,
producing practical home ware products such as combs, cups, toothbrush
holders, golf tees, and small tidy toolboxes. Our employees quickly
filled their showbags with lots of great samples and literature on the new
machines and technology. Many exhibitors were keen to discuss the
technological advantages for their machines and to demonstrate the ease of
operation of their equipment.
Also in operation was a blow moulding machine from a Chinese company.
This machine was producing plastic drink bottles from a pre-fab mould in a
six second cycle. A number of Dolphin employees enjoyed watching this
technology, asked many questions, took some photos and received samples of
drink bottles hot out of the machine.
Some of Dolphin Products materials suppliers were also exhibiting, so it
was very nice to catch up with some familiar faces and talk shop.
At 6.30pm, we rounded up our employees, completed a quick headcount and
jumped on the bus for our return to the factory. On the trip home,
lots of discussion on the samples collected but also on how the show was
considerably smaller than previous years. But all in all, everyone
agreed that they enjoyed the experience and are eagerly awaiting the next
Ausplas Expo!
