Dolphin Supports CanTeen

Through our very active Health and Safety Committee, Dolphin Products hosted a sausage sizzle on Friday, 31st October to raise funds for CanTeen on National Bandana Day.

CanTeen supports young people living with cancer and National Bandana Day was a fun way to educate our employee on how this organisation supports patients, siblings living with a family member with cancer and bereaved families.

Our Health and Safety Committee worked tirelessly on setting up tables and chairs, cooking the BBQ, and cleaning up.  We also set up a stall to sell bandanas and by the end of the day every employee was wearing a bandana!

Congratulations to everyone involved, Dolphin Products raised a whooping $435.50 for CanTeen.

AUSPLAS Trade show

Ausplas is Australia's national expo for the plastics processing industry and trade users of plastics products.  This expo is held every three years, with this year's expo at the South Melbourne Exhibition Centre on 7th October to 10th October 2008.

Ausplas presents the latest practical developments in processing equipment, technology and applications from leading suppliers around the world and within Australia.

On Wednesday, 8th October, 28 employees were transported by bus into the Ausplas Trade show for some hands-on learning and development.  We arrived at the Expo at 4.30pm, electronically registered and then dispersed into the crowds.

A number of large injection moulding machines were in operation, producing practical home ware products such as combs, cups, toothbrush holders, golf tees, and small tidy toolboxes.  Our employees quickly filled their showbags with lots of great samples and literature on the new machines and technology. Many exhibitors were keen to discuss the technological advantages for their machines and to demonstrate the ease of operation of their equipment.

Also in operation was a blow moulding machine from a Chinese company.  This machine was producing plastic drink bottles from a pre-fab mould in a six second cycle.  A number of Dolphin employees enjoyed watching this technology, asked many questions, took some photos and received samples of drink bottles hot out of the machine.

Some of Dolphin Products materials suppliers were also exhibiting, so it was very nice to catch up with some familiar faces and talk shop.

At 6.30pm, we rounded up our employees, completed a quick headcount and jumped on the bus for our return to the factory.  On the trip home, lots of discussion on the samples collected but also on how the show was considerably smaller than previous years.  But all in all, everyone agreed that they enjoyed the experience and are eagerly awaiting the next Ausplas Expo!

Pink Ribbon Day - October 2007

Pink Ribbon Day is an initiative run by the Cancer Council of Victoria.  The funds raised on this day assist research into the causes of breast cancer, support services and education programs.

Dolphin Products Health and Safety Committee are passionate about educating our employees in health and safety programs and decided that launching Pink Ribbon Day was an opportunity for our employees to learn more about breast cancer as well as having fun raising money for a very worthy cause.

On Wednesday, 27th October 2007, our committee hosted a range of activities to support Pink Ribbon Day including:

  • Pink themed morning/afternoon tea for a gold coin donation

  • Pink Raffle with 4 lovely packaged prizes on offer

  • Selling Pink Ribbon day merchandise

  • Encouraged our employees to wear pink apparel to work

  • Posting information about breast cancer in the canteen

  • Posted a memorial card on the canteen notice board to remember friends and family that have been touched by breast cancer.

Dolphin Products employees had a wonderful time indulging in a beautiful spread of cakes, slices, biscuits and cup cakes with their tea and coffee, all supplied courtesy of the Health and Safety Committee.  We raised a grand total of $373.30 for the Cancer Council of Victoria.

Congratulations to everyone involved and a special thank you to Dolphin Products Health and Safety Committee for their tireless work, cooking and hosting such a great event.
